Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
At the moment in Property Management, so arrears chasing, RPI Rent Reviews, Client Meetings, Turnover Information management, account reconciliations, insurance certificates, service charge budgets and setting, liaising with the tenants and the estate management teams, reading the leases and providing the necessary feedback to the teams that requested the information.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I do really enjoy the programme and this has confirmed to me that I do indeed want to continue to pursue a career in the property industry. The Uni course that I am attending is relevant to my job and I find the content interesting also which is a bonus.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have especially learnt to read leases in minute detail and the importance of correctly uploading the detail to the systems since it is what the company use to invoice and bill off. I have gained more confidence speaking to clients also, given the opportunities to attend client management meetings.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I would say that the course is well organised. We receive a lot of help in regards to the APC. I do think that the fact that as a non-cog you will be attending university is not completely clear when applying as I only discovered this on the interview. Savills is also always willing to help and answer any questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I feel very well supported from my employer. Savills is very good at ensuring that the 20% off the job is respected and I never feel pressured to work this. There also does seem to be many checks also in regard to this matter so that I feel I know which channels to approach if the circumstances were to change.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
There is support from UCEM, however I do see that this is secondary to the support that Savills give me. There is a lot of information online, however as there is so much it is sometimes easy to miss the stuff that really matters. I also find it a bit difficult to keep up to date with ALL the diaries.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I have definitely been learning a lot, while there is yet to be much cross-over, the valuations module will prove invaluable I am sure when it comes to sitting in this seat. There is however a lot of content to cover and sometimes it is hard to keep up with it!
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I do not get that involved with extra curricular activities at work. This is mainly due to other social commitments I have outside the office. However, there is plenty of opportunity for socialising both in my property management team and also with the other graduates. Savills are keen to facilitate.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The members of staff and my colleagues are very friendly and welcoming. I would recommend as I think they work hard to facilitate you receiving the APC accreditation. Moreover, HR seem keen to be involved and assist with any problems that I may encounter during my employment at savills too!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
The biggest tip I would recommend is to demonstrate your enthusiasm for property as it is clear that everyone I have encountered has been extremely enthusiastic! Also, just be honest about what you know. As a non-cog you will have opportunity to learn and just make sure you ask questions!
