Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I am responsible for the generation of business via bringing onboard new partners and renewing existing ones. This is via prospecting the market, responding to tenders and pitching the opportunity both internally and externally. I also look at the proposition we offer our partners and how we can look to improve this.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
RSA are such a supportive employee for apprenticeships so I feel empowered to maximise my experience.
I have a day a week to complete my work but often need to do more in my own time (but it is all manageable). I find I ask more questions of the business and have greater clarity on why our mission is what it is now I have the insight from the apprenticeship.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The apprenticeship programme has given me a new perspective on my working life. I understand how strategic decisions are made, importance in data for rational choices, why we do organisational restuctures at the frequency we do, how financial strategy works and the importance of being an ethical business in todays world.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The year is split into four terms with a two week gap in between each one.
I have a half day workshop a week and then a few hours reading I need to do before (so one day which RSA gives me to complete this work).
I have an assignment each term that takes some time up but in the lead up to submission I dont have workshops so can fit most in my allocated time off.
I then need to build a portfolio which demonstrates how I am applying my knowledge, skill sand behaviours.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
A lot! RSA give me a day off a week to work on my apprenticeship. The senior leaders are also very supportive with each of our Executive Team giving me one to one time to discuss what I am learning and giving their advice.
RSA are really a great advocate of apprenticeship and I couldn't ask for anything more.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I have access to the online portal. This portal has all the material to read, recorded lectures and information on how to complete the assignments. I also have a tutor who meets with me every term to talk over how I am progressing and what advice I need to help me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The apprenticeship gives me a new perspective of work and means I now think and act on a more senior level (above what my peers would be doing). It also has helped me build my internal brand and network which in turn will help future career aspirations within my organisation.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
RSA has Employee Run Groups for the likes of Armed Forces, Families and Pride. These can be joined and attended on a regular or ad hoc basis. We also complete CSR days as a team and sites have activities on such a social events and charity events. There is also an annual site run awards ceremony.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSA Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
RSA is very proactive in encouraging apprenticeships as well as being an inclusive and supportive employer. They are also one of the most established insurers globally and therefore are a secure place to work.
RSA has people who work for long tenures which is a testament to how good a place it is to work.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Group?
The best advice I can give to someone applying to join RSA is to be yourself. RSA encourages you to bring your best self to work and to work hard for the company mission. In return they will support you in what you want to achieve and are understanding of work/life balances in a changing world.
