Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
General quarterly Valuation work day-to-day, with Process improvements to existing processes in areas of downtime. Additional I've been given the opportunity to lead and essentially manage an inter-team project development only a month after starting at WTW. There are also lots of opportunities to take part in other projects too
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I'd say on a day-to-day basic I100% enjoy my apprenticeship and it is the best decision i made over going to University. I believe my confidence has had a massive boost, this is due to stepping into the unknown and also having the responsibility of presenting in an in person office based meeting. but also 4 meetings on my PowerBI dashboard

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Definitely! Firstly, lots of actuarial knowledge, key words and techniques as i joined from sixth form where actuarial science isn't taught or even touched upon at all. I've also had to chance to lead a new PowerBI development where i was given links to study material on the Microsoft website and had to teach myself the basics, which i then went on to use daily for 3 months or so

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The way the missions and study works is all set up pretty well and it clear which sections of study need doing for a specific date. the missions are a good way of highlighting to BPP and WTW what I've been up to, but also its good to reflect on what i've been doing while working, as when its busy I dont get the chance to think about things like that
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
All the time, whenever i need/ want it and even when i dont need it. Just regular catch ups with line managers. we get provided 'buddies' while help us settle in. Buddies are not business related and are someone friendly who help you settle into WTW. All the time with study commitments too
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
we have videos set up on the "BPP Hub" and we received a text book of all knowledge we need to know. we also have monthly 'Half day tutorials' which are useful to work on the knowledge that I dont fully understand. these are on adobe connect and are very good the way they're set out, however i beleive if we could use our cameras it would be more interactive
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
The maths we learn in Module 0 are useful when doing day to day calculations. we dont fully use them, but understanding them if useful as then i can apply what i know to an excel formula which i couldnt do at the start. Other than that, at the minute some aspects i just wont use daily.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are regular socials which are very good and a good place to interact with colleague outside of work environment. There is also a team 'sports day' at a local park booked in for summer which is another good chance to see colleagues in a different light (everyone is competitive somehow :))

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Very good support, The pay, the benefits, the colleagues i work with are all very friendly and clever people. The support i feel i have, especially as a new joiner and an apprentice at just 19, i dont feel like I'm just the new young guy who's not taken seriously. everyone is open and want to get my input as i am approaching this work from a different perspective.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
Be confident but know when to listen to others. Be respectful of all colleagues as they will respect you and go into it with an open mind. be ready to learn as this will be completely new to anyone unless they have done actuarial work before (assuming no one has as most sixth forms and colleagues dont do it)
