Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I work in the Mergers & acquisitions team within WTW FINEX. This is where a company either buys another company or merges with them. On a day-to-day basis I help my colleagues with preparing binding indications and confirmations of cover for them. I also help with billing and filing all the documents for each project.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the programme a lot. I feel like I am learning something new everyday, whether that's in my actual job role or learning for my exams. The team made me fell very welcome and comfortable from the first day and are always happy to help me and happy to answer any questions that I may have.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed existing skills such as using calculations within Excel and also building presentable and enticing powerpoints for my colleagues to then either send to clients or present them to clients. I've also learnt new skills such as how to write formal emails and the language that should be used when sending emails to clients or underwriters.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I believe the programme is well structured as I know what my responsibilities are everyday and I know what tasks I need to complete. With the apprenticeship itself and the external company it was a bit confusing as we didn't really hear much and were told we had to sit an exam in December when half of us hadn't received books. However this was later cleared up and everything has run smoothly since then.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I believe that we receive a lot of support. When I first joined I was told about all the communities I could join within the company. I was also told that we could sign up to get up a mentor and I was also given a buddy who is another apprentice a bit further along in the programme.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a good amount of support. For the first two exams which are LM1 and LM2 we had 3 sessions which were 2 and a half hours long and then 1 last session where we were able to ask any last questions we had before sitting the exams. I would say that it would be helpful to have 1 hour sessions every week instead as then we may be able to cover more than just 4 chapters.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think that the exams really help as they give a background knowledge on how everything works behind the scenes. For example Lloyd's, it was very interesting to read about how they actually work and all the different roles within that help Lloyd's operate. When I am doing work I feel like a perform better as my knowledge is enhanced in the background.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are quite a few. There is alot of networking events that I have been invited too and also the apprenticeship team have set up many events with regional and London apprentices where we got to meet them. I have also had the opportunity to meet apprentices that have completed the course and that was interesting to talk them about their experience and how they have progressed.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend wtw as it is a very welcoming company. Everyone is always more than happy to help with anything whether it be a little question or a big task that you're not sure where to start or how to approach it. There are many opportunities to progress and develop your career.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
I would say to be confident and believe in yourself. I would also try find out as much as you can about the job role that you are applying for as extra knowledge about the sector can't hurt! I would also say be attentive towards those who interview you as they will want to know that you are listening and taking everything in.
