Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is firmly a broking role. I correspond daily with clients, insurance underwriters (based in London and in the regions) and with internal stakeholders (in particular colleagues in my team). I am a specialist in Directors & Officers Liability Insurance, placing this class of business for Willis Towers Watson clients.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the programme which WTW offers. WTW as an organisation is extremely supportive of their apprentices and a great culture is embedded within the organisation. WTW together with The Growth Company (the training provider) provide a structured programme with results in both personal and professional development. I highly recommend WTW's apprenticeship scheme.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Throughout my apprenticeship I have developed a whole range of new skills and enhanced my existing skills. New skills include the analysis of financials reports and analysis of insurance policy wordings. Skills which have been enhanced include my presentation skills, negotiation skills and problem solving skills. Excellent training has been provided.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
It is structured very well. WTW uses 'The Growth Company' as their training provider. The training provider provides lectures on our exam content and assigns a personal tutor so any questions can be quickly answered throughout the programme. WTW provides great support in the background and sets out a clear plan of how the apprenticeship scheme will run.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
WTW provide a great level of support, essentially as much as I need/ want. This support can come from the apprenticeship team (answering any queries or concerns) and through my line manager/ colleagues. My line manager and colleagues (which include past apprentices) answer any questions I have on a day to day basis.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
They provide a great level of support. They provide lectures on our examination topic as well as provide a personal tutor who can answer any questions that I have. The tutor also guides me through the programme and has a crucial role in assisting towards the end of the scheme (when 'gateway' begins).
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The qualification that I receive is from the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII). The qualification, the diploma, provides me with credibility within the insurance industry. The qualification itself helps me on a daily basis; the knowledge that it provides allows my to understand how the whole insurance market works and regulations that I personally must follow and also my employer.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Professional networking events are common in my role. Building up relationships with underwriters is crucial to perform the best that I can. At a busy time, professional networking events can occur once a week. Social events also occur sporadically throughout the year within my team. These events are great perks of the job.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because of the culture. WTW's culture is in one word exceptional. The culture provides all colleagues with a safe, collaborative work environment which supports personal and professional development. The culture is imbedded from the top-down and ground-up so no matter what office you work in or who you work with the culture is excellent.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
Express yourself as who you are. WTW is a safe, diverse company which respects and values everyone's thoughts and opinion.
The size of WTW allows for diversification in role in the future and provides a huge amount of opportunity to develop. I couldn't speak more highly of what a great company it is to work for.
