Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Responsible for collating and forming as built information for the civils work on the project, demonstrating good record keeping and the need for these for the life of the project after construction.
Served as the main engineer for setting out the multiple structures within the project.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Project management and cataloguing of lessons learnt as part of the corporate memory if and when any future works maybe required. This includes planning for the next stage of the programme. Regular and continuous development meetings have been highly praiseworthy with added responsibility given.

The Site Agent and Senior Site Engineer gave many opportunities to learn and grow but when I needed they were there to answer any questions I had and if they didn't know would try find out for me.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Due to COVID a lot of company wide events were cancelled, however the Kier Moving for May was a big success and I was Team Captain for our site team.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I really enjoyed my placement and it exceeded my expectations on what a placement was - I got more responsibility and did more work that went towards the actual project than I thought I would. I would definitely go back - in fact, I have a summer placement lined up for next year.
