Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The Insight Programme included daily talks and presentations from different sectors, with group tasks set following the sector presentations. There were also talks on the surveying sector as a whole and personal development talks, with guidance and advice on interview skills and CV applications. Optional individual tasks were available and these encouraged reflection on the Insight Programme and looking into the future in terms of career opportunities and surveying.
What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
The Insight Programme provided valuable information and knowledge regarding the different sectors. The speakers offered example case studies and their own thoughts and opinions on the sector and what could be expected. This provided a real understanding of careers in these sectors. The group tasks were also very helpful in consolidating the learning and understanding from these talks and presentations.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
During the Insight Programme, I was able to learn how the different sectors are unique and closely interlinked with one another. I discovered how my degree relates and supports different areas of the property and surveying industry, whilst having the opportunity to develop my communication and teamwork skills through the group tasks set. I have also learnt to become more reflective when completing tasks whilst considering how I am able to develop my skills further.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture and general atmosphere seemed very inclusive and diverse, with company-wide events and sports activities taking place. Fisher German also offers a large amount of support for progression and there is the ability to move between different sectors and broaden your understanding.

Overall Experience
To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
I really enjoyed participating in the Fisher German Insight Programme, and would definitely recommend it to non-cognate students as there are so many opportunities available. The group tasks were interesting and helped to provide networking opportunities with other students. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, and I also received support from my buddy. My buddy was really helpful when responding to any questions I had about the tasks, sectors or Fisher German.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fisher German
I would encourage others applying to ask questions and to really engage with the Insight Programme week, especially if they feel they have little knowledge or experience in property and surveying. The Fisher German Insight Programme made all participants feel included and able to contribute to the different events and activities, regardless of experience. I would also encourage others to contact their buddy as you are able to find out more about the company culture.
