Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I am a graduate surveyor, and I will rotate through all the teams within the Savills affordable housing division. I am assisting more senior members of my team with gathering comparable evidence, report writing, modelling valuations, inspecting and client communications.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy my programme, especially when I am given more responsibility to deliver projects independently.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt about the surveying industry, and the various roles and responsibilities of being an RICS accredited surveyor. I have also improved my excel and report writing skills, my client communication skills and my skills of numerical analysis.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I feel well supported by my colleagues and feel that I am getting a wide range of work. Occasionally I do have to be proactive to ensure that I am getting work. My study programme is highly organised and I feel comfortable managing my time and understanding what is expected of me.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I know that support is available to me, and my line manager has been very helpful in addressing any concerns and keeping in contact with my outcomes officer for my MSc degree.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I feel really supported by the university where I am undertaking my degree, and although it is online the approach is really personal.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I feel like since I didn't do a specialist degree that my degree learning supports my job role on a day to day level and is highly relevant. It has especially helped me understand the maths behind some of the models I use on a daily basis.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, I play for the office netball once a week, and have already been to a few networking events with my colleagues in the first 6 months.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Savills to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I think it's such a good opportunity to get an academic qualification and workplace training at the same time. I feel like they are highly experienced in getting graduates through the programme, so i am confident that they will help me be successful in this.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Savills?
I would say that it is really important to gain an understanding of the industry you are working in while you are applying, so that you are up to date with current markets.
