Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I work in the home claims department training new claims handlers and upskilling existing handlers. I am also involved in project work analysing and presenting data, and being involved in calls to discuss implementation of various parts of the project and how this will impact our policyholders.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the technical side of the program with the studies linked to our professional body. Some of the soft skills work has also be interesting in order to reflect on current skill levels. The basic maths and english skills I don't enjoy as don't feel these are relevant.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed my communication, presentation, organisation and collaborative working skills through my role as a trainer. In the project work I have learnt new skills in analysing data and developed my IT skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My talent coach plans regular meetings and the learning platform is very clear in what tasks need to be done with deadlines attached to these, although flexibility has been available depending on day-to-day or life situations where they have accommodated my need to do more or less in a given timeframe.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My employer is extremely supportive in my role with my line managers regularly checking in on my progress to see if I need any additional time or support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Previous exams and workshops are provided to aid with the technical exam and coursework elements. Virtual soft skills sessions are also set up to aid behavioural skills development.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
The technical aspect has deepened my knowledge in various areas which has given me more confidence in communicating my knowledge with others. The soft skills work is helping me to develop working relationships which is bringing about further opportunities within my employment.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
In person social events are beginning to be planned after needing to be paused during the pandemic. There are various virtual sessions set up which anyone can join to talk and receive support in particular areas, or an internal social media function for non-work discussion.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RSA Group to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I was initially employed as an apprentice studying for a Level 3 qualification which I achieved on schedule. I have gained promotions and development through my relatively short time at the company and they are now further supporting me in working towards my Level 6 qualification and ensuring this continues to be supported whilst my daily role develops and continues to progress.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RSA Group?
RSA are a great company to work for, they are interested in developing those who want to do so and offer support in progression with apprentices as well as other in-house programs. They value their staff as people and have taken action to the benefit of their employees through the pandemic and also with the recent cost of living crisis. The work can be challenging but there is always support available so anyone keen to work hard and learn would be able to build a career with RSA.
