Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Each day is different. I usually have a site inspection one day a week, study the other, work from home one day and spend two days in the office. The variety in locations keeps the work interesting and engaging. On a day when I'm in the office or working from home, I am conducting due diligence enquires for various members of my team. Additionally, I have been tasked with the project of updating the market information for our internal data bases, which occupies a large proportion of my time.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy the balance and variety. The university degree is insightful and interesting and studying alongside learning has enabled me to apply the module materials to real life scenarios.
Since starting 5 months ago, I have taken the opportunity to represent the company at a careers fair, work in different offices, attend team meetings, client meetings, development meetings and meet members of the board.
On a daily basis, I am responsible for carrying out background research for valuations and updating the market commentary, which I enjoy, as it enables me to gain a greater understanding of the sectors we cover.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
The job has enabled me to improve my communication, people and excel skills. It has also enabled me to be responsible and accountable for myself in terms of time management and budgeting my salary now I live alone.
I have learnt how to adopt different working styles, when working with different people and gained insight into the markets our division cover.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The company provide training days, events and regular well being check ups. My line manager is great and allows me to work autonomously and flexibly. They are encouraging of me to take every opportunity and provide feedback on work I do. The study day too is flexible should assignments, inspections and life events arise.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is a strong support system in place from the company and my line manager.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I have regular 12 week catch ups with my outcomes officer and they are happy to assist. I have also found the module leaders to be extremely helpful and the welfare teams. The feedback provided has been thorough and it has enabled me to improve my marks and writing skills on my second assignments,
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Knowledge from the university can be transferred and applied in the workplace. It allows for an in depth understanding and retention of what has been taught.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes there are bi-weekly office lunches, 2x strategy days per year for our department, an office Christmas gathering and regular catch ups in the kitchen. Then there are sports teams, clubs and events. For example, I have had the opportunity to sign up to the JLL property triathlon 2023, which is an intercompany competition and networking event. Additionally, there are regular intercompany networking events, such as ones for young professionals in property.
