Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role involves the background admin tasks around setting up/renewing policies with our clients. This involves drafting MRC's, Firm Orders, Quote to Clients, Confirmation of Covers and Evidence of Covers. I big part of my role is around uploading Firm Orders to a platform called PPL and await underwriter agreement. I also use PPL to submit any endorsements for underwriter review.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my programme. I get to learn new things every week, work alongside experienced brokers/client executives, work with multi-cultural teams such as our Mumbai team and study towards a industry renowned qualification... all whilst getting paid too! I enjoy the hustle and bustle of the London City too.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
My insurance knowledge has certainly increased over the past 5 months. I have already sat an exam where I have passed too. My confidence in meetings has definitely increased having been involved in a range of training and client meetings. My time management has also developed as I have to juggle my apprenticeship studies and my work duties.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme is very structured. All exams (six) have deadlines/time periods where they should be completed. Everything is set out on day one and you have a timeline to follow. I have 20% Off the Job Training every week which gives me further structure as this allows me to study.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive endless support from WTW. I have my line manager, apprentice peers, my mentor, the internal apprenticeship team and my training provider. I am also a part of various social groups that provide additional support. There is not one situation I can think of where I would not know or have anyone to go get support from within WTW.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The support is limited. We receive 3 training sessions per exam which I find is little in comparison to the 250 odd page book. The majority of the course is left for our own studying. However, if you email your training coach they get back to you promptly.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My CII qualification is very relevant to my role. It covers all the basics when it comes to insurance and even goes into detail on the steps a broker takes to place a risk (pretty much what I do). The regulatory side of things helps heavily too as I know the rules and where they originated from.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I get involved in a range of social groups such as:
- Young Professions Network
- LGBTQ+
- Workability
- Inclusion and Diversity
- Gender Equality
- Multicultural Inclusion
I also play Netball and am part of the Insurance Networking 2023 programme which gives me seminars on the basics of the Insurance industry. I also take part in the Young Professions Network committee.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
You get immense support from WTW, alongside a well respected qualification and a decent salary. What more could you ask for? You learn new things everyday and you are left with 3 years industry experience, 3 years worth of a salary, a qualification and a potential permanent job offer. It is a no brainer!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
Be yourself. When you try to act a certain way that is unnatural you end up negatively helping yourself. Being yourself and presenting your true self is the best way to come across in an interview. Calm and collected. Also, do research into the team you want to join so it is really clear how keen you are.
