Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role as an account executive includes working closely with the London brokers on my team. I assist on large placements ensuring that all of the correct documents get sent to insurers and clients. I have a lot of interaction with the client and insurers. Communication is a large part of my role, internally and externally. I have regular conversations/ calls with my colleagues on the updates of placements.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I really enjoy my programme because at WTW you are not seen as an apprentice, but one of the team! I have had so my opportunities being an apprentice. The team i work in are have been so good, no question is seen as "silly" and they all are keen to develop my knowledge in the industry.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have improved my communication skills as this is a main part of my role. Its important that communication is good in my team for updates and externally as i have to communicate effectively with insurers and the client. I have improved my organisational skills being at WTW and time management as these are also a key aspect of what I have to do. I have learnt a lot about Microsoft Excel and how to write emails which is very much needed. I have learnt a lot about business etiquette since staring my role.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I think the programme is well structured. We have been give a timeline which clearly identifies what we should be doing/ working towards. There are a few things that have to be done in addition to the exams themselves which i was not aware of before starting. However this has been clearly stated and there is lots of people to go to for help. I think the apprenticeship programme could be done in a shorter time however this is down to the individual.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my team everyone is always willing to teach me something or show me how to do something. I don't have a lot of communication or support from the apprenticeship team in WTW. Also people from other teams are also very supportive of all apprentices.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
My tutor who teaches the workshops is very good and goes through the content in a simpler way and is always letting us ask questions and is approachable. I also have a skill progress coach who is very good we have monthly catch ups and she is always offering support. We have lots of emails form the training provider asking the same questions
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The qualification gives a general overview of the insurance industry which is good to have. I would say that there are a few chapters that dont effect the performance in my role and is not related to my line of business. I would say that there isnt much that relates directly to what i do but its good to have the knowledge of the industry
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There is a young professional network that i could be involved in although I'm not. I have been involved in a lot of professional networking events. There is more events that happen in London, not so much in Ipswich. But they are usually made available to us too. We quite often go out as a team for lunch or after work which is good!

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend WTW to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend WTW because everyone that works there is no nice. We have good perks working at Willis. There are lots of opportunities as well. Before i started i thought that everyone would be really serious seeing as its a large company but everyone is so lovely and always up for a laugh.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
I would say make sure that you are visible and get talking to lots of people as its good to have connections. I would say not to be nervous and if you dont know anything about the industry dont be worries! you will soon pick up things very quickly and everyone is more than happy to help you.
