Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am responsible for maintaining and introducing testers within the factory. The machines test the products we make within the factory. I interact with people on all levels and departments. I get many volunteering opportunities which can be as frequent as 2/3 times a month.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I fully enjoy what I do. The opportunities are endless and I feel I have a great support system. I enjoy the content I am learning at Uni and the ability to practice it in the tasks and projects I am given in work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Soldering, Digital skills (such as arranging meetings, sending professional emails), public speaking, PCB design, making up wires.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I have a detailed plan of all the areas I am going to cover within my apprenticeship, and who I can contact to do so. I have already completed a years placement in Repair, and now I am in a different department learning something new.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am fully supported from everyone and Siemens and at Uni. I have a mentor at work who supports me weekly and a Manager who I have one to ones with monthly. From Uni I have meetings on a 10 week basis.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I have 20% off the job each week to complete my studies. This is where I go to Uni one day a week. Within work, my manager has always said that studies come first and has let me put aside a work task when I have a lot to do at Uni.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am able to learn new knowledge and put it into practice which helps engrain the knowledge further and allow for a deeper understanding. This is a massive positive for me as I am a hands on learner.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are a group of apprentices at my work who like to arrange something monthly. However, this is between ourselves that it is arranged. Prior to covid, I am told that work used to arrange apprentice get togethers, to include everyone. This would be nice to bring back.
