Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role varies as I want to get lots of experience. Daily I will attending the relevant meetings, completing trackers, spreadsheets, look at production runs, schedules and plans, completing audits and training needed. I also take study days for extra reading and writing of assignments and have university block weeks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I enjoy the work based learning a lot, I have great support and I am always being pushed to do more. The organisation is very supportive and is always giving us training opportunities. My team on site is amazing and everyone is always willing to give me opportunities and training.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have gained skills in, patience, managerial skills, referencing skills, communication skills and holding responsibilities. I have developed my confidence, my listening skills, my time keeping, networking, creative thinking, team work. Professionally I have trained in Health and Safety, project management, critical thinking, first aid, decision making and interpersonal skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very well organised. I have training which has time limits to be completed. I understand who my manager is and who to go through higher up if there are issues. I have regular meetings with my manager and mentors. I always have a development upto date with next steps
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support. My line manager and HR team are very actively supportive as is everyone on site. I have a mentor and a buddy who i have meetings with both multiple times a year to update. I also know I can talk to anyone with issues.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
My tutor is supportive and is always available to speak to. They make an effort to speak to us despite us not being there all of the time and they speak to our managers. University can be hard as people are very disruptive. It can be hard to concentrate.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The university based learning can sometimes be more relevant to retail than my sector in manufacturing. Some topics help me understand the background of the industry and how to manage teams. We have people from the organisation come to speak which is really good as we can apply our learning.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There is always lots to do with community champions and career events in work. However, I do not live close to work so sometimes there can be a limit with what I can get involved in but I know that work is very involved in the local community and people.
