Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Assisting the team with legal matters, including attending meetings, drafting documents, communicating with clients and experts in person, over the phone and by emails. Attending court trials.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I have enjoyed learning about the legal work different teams undertake, attending client meetings and functions and experiencing trials in the Royal Courts of Justice.

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Office skills such as communication, presentation, and self management of work.
I've developed my technical abilities to draft court documents, letters and emails.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is structured well. I have one assigned study day each week to complete studying towards my degree/qualifying exams. I then have 4 days in the office working with my team and developing my office skills.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I have been assigned a supervisor within my team who I have regular catch ups with to discuss my work and development. I also have an apprentice manager who I can go to with any questions regarding the structure of the programme or other HR queries.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have weekly lectures for the modules I am studying. I also have a coach who organises calls each term to check on my wellbeing and development. I was also assigned a coach when competing my portfolio to give me support and advice regarding the work I should include.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification provides me with a legal knowledge background needed to undertake tasks in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there is a young professionals network, charity & volunteering schemes such as assisting school pupils with learning presentation and interview techniques and sports teams such as netball teams.

There are opportunities to complete apprenticeships where you complete a degree and obtain on the job experience.
It is in the middle of the city which is a great place to expand your professional network.
The teams are very supportive of my apprenticeship and progress.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to DWF?
Try to gain office work experience demonstrating your communication and teamwork skills.
Research DWF's goals & objectives and make sure they align with your views.
