Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
I am responsible for a research project on computer graphics. I design the algorithm and do experiments to verify hypothesis. Since the project is research-oriented, my daily task is flexible and highly depends on the experiment results.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes. The project I am working on is promising. On the other hand, I don't have too much responsibility because the topic is cutting-edge and no specific goal can be expected.

My advice might only apply to research interns. Developing your own research ideas is important. Even before starting the internship, it will be better to have your own research goal.
