Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is to work alongside senior developers shadowing and helping them deliver technology solutions projects. I work within a variety of different business areas, exploring different programming languages and tools. Alongside I delegate time to work on my university degree keeping up with module learning, exams and my coursework.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
Although my programme is a lot of hard work and there is pressure sometimes I do enjoy my programme as it allows you to fully experience how it is to work in a large business, I get to speak to lots of new interesting people daily, there is always something to get involved in at Siemens

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Alongside developing my technical skills, doing a degree apprenticeship like mine you develop your interpersonal skills, my time management has improved over the years as well as my ability to proactively find things to do. I have improved my programming and IT skills learning multiple new programming languages as well as learning to use new software.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well organised, I have week long university learning modules where I go to my university for the week to do week long intensive modules and I am excused from my work responsibilities. I keep up with my managers both of which always keep me guided through my apprenticeship
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I am constantly in contact with managers and superiors who always provide me with support with work or whatever it may be. There is plenty of well being schemes in place which can be useful for people in the company lacking that support, as a place you can go to if you aren't happy with your work environment
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My university are very supportive of my studies, there is constant contact between me and them. If ever I do need any support I can contact a number of people at my training provider who will be there to guide and support me if needed. I am treated the same as a normal university student when I am there.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
the content of my qualification frequently overlaps with things I have learnt in the workplace and vice versa. I get involved in many aspects of IT in the workplace and my qualification is also very varied in different topics. When topics overlap it gives you an idea of how all these topics merge into the workpalce
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Siemens has a lot of extra curricular activities, there is a football group that play every week that I get involved in, we have many staff nights where we go and enjoy food and socialising. We have company town hall sessions which give us a chance to network within the company
