Post sales technical support for factory automation; this involves programmable logic controllers, HMIs, networking products, industrial PCs etc.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy the team I am in, and I feel like I am actually contributing to the company by working on customer issues in the field.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Constantly learning new things about our products, whether its communications protocols, memory allocation, networking, etc I am always learning new things

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My manager was changed in my first yer of this apprenticeship, which was the best decision. He is a digitalised automation specialist manager who has a wealth of technical information. He also is very understanding on my university and shows interest into what I am learning; he tries to apply that to my day to day role.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
My team is very supportive - any time I need help I will always get it from someone in the team. My managers and placement managers are supportive whenever I have any issues whether its work or personal.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I always have my skills coach at MMU who is always available to me when I need help. They are my personal point of contact for university.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I always get involved in software engineering projects at work as there are not many people that have the electrical and software knowledge. Myself and very few others have these skills, so I am always interested in programming projects
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are plenty of opportunities for me to network, whether it be professionally or via social events outside of work. Everyone is very welcoming and always makes me feel involved

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Siemens to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company looks after you with benefits and holidays, however I feel that the company is a very good place to wok. I won't be leaving any time soon
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Siemens?
Do your research about the products; however even if you are going into a new field, show genuine interest and passion. They would rather help train someone that is wiling to learn that take someone who is hard to work with but has more experience.
