Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
As a Chef De Partie my job is to look after a section, in this instance I work across starters and desserts, my main responsibilities are to make sure we have plenty of stock to last throughout the service, making sure it it rotated correctly and nothing is out of date or unsuitable for use, making sure the plates sent out are served to the specifications supplied. Also other things are making sure we are having as small amount of wastage as possible. Making sure my section is kept clean at all times so we do not attract pests or cause cross contamination.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I have completed a previous apprenticeship before but I have enjoyed this more, not only the working side but the computer side too, the courses are set out in an easier layout so I can understand them better and that helps me to complete them to a higher satisfaction level

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed new skills, some are due to working with new Ingredients such as scallops, before working here I had not cooked a scallop but I now am able to cook one well, making variations on purées is a new skill and having the understanding of each purée is different and how to make sure each way is made correctly l

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
As stated before the layout that is set is an easy layout, I have set days that my apprenticeship teacher comes out to see me and they are helpful when the new courses come up and being 1-1 you can get the help straight away, also the messaging system helps too as I can message my assessor directly via that.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
when I need help from my employer I have multiple people I can ask, and they are always willing to help me with whatever it is I need, such as if I’m stuck on a question on my course they don’t just answer it but explain to the answer so I understand it myself
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
If I’m needing help or confused on something I’ve always had a quick response from my assessor which I value greatly, when a new course come up my assessor send extra documents for me to read through to help me understand what I need to do for my course
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Learning new things about the company help me have more respect for my job, such as demographics helping me understand different aspects of why things are done, other things such as the British values having more respect for each individual I work with and explaining to others so everyone else understands why aswell
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
From my knowledge there is a yearly football tournament that takes place, apart from that’s the only social events would be our staff Christmas party which included a scavenger hunt around the city centre as set teams within the front of house and back of house, then a meal with all the team together

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Mitchells and Butlers to a friend?
Yes
Why?
From working here previously and coming back I have always enjoyed my time here, we have a good strong team which is always here to help you and help you learn and better yourself, lifetime training are a great company for completing an apprenticeship, also I have worked on different sites so going from one to another learning about how each site operates helps you have more respect for the company
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells and Butlers?
Make sure you have confidence in yourself and be willing to learn, everyday is a new learning experience working with a good team. As stated before working at multiple sites will again help you learn skills but you will respect the company knowing how well you have it working here
