To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
I enjoy managine my own work load to ensure the site runs efficiently and safely, I enjoy the team I work with and the site culture on helping each other.
For expectations, from coming through the lab pathway I feel the lab apprenticeship is lacking compare to the operational apprenticeship, I felt like I was getting left behind compare to other peers on the same higher apprenticeship programme. However, the lab is a great starting point to build a foundation of knowledge of the asphalt process.
For the company culture I think some of the asks are annoying, but overall the company is supporting and encourages learning and development in the work place.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
By working along side contractors and operators I have developed my leadership, delegating important jobs with trust that the job will be complete.
Organisation by sorting job allocations, planning holidays. planning training course, and night work with a minimal staff.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?
Training, again I felt like I was been left behind coming from the Lab, i wasn't involved with the same training as which the operational apprentices was given.
The support was always there when you needed it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
My manager(s) have been/ and still are supportive.
HR:
HR checked up on progress and ensure that I was doing ok. Any issues i went to them with got sorted in a timely manner.
Mentor:
My mentor was the main factor in my success. He worked with me and was a person I could approach with any issues. They help my learn processes through a better perspective.
Overall the support was great
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
The general support was always positive, everyone was there to help you and point you in the right direction.
Overall i enjoy all the course I have been on.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
The theory learnt during the qualification is used daily, the knowledge gained gives you that extra confidence during your apprenticeshio
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
Hopefully these options come back to be more readily available now covid restriction have reduce to a more normal level
