Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role consists of daily tasks such as prepping food, doing food orders, cooking food and leading a team. I lead a team when the shift leader or kitchen manager isn’t on shift. I also do office based roles such as productivity and prep sheet. I also express my views on what I would like to change about how we work as a team.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme as I am learning on the job and I get along really well with my trainer. I enjoy learning about different aspects of the job and the industry itself. It is important to know about how one business can affect the industry. I also enjoy learning new skills and getting advice from my trainer.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt to be more confident in my job role and as I’m doing a level 3, food and beverage, I also work downstairs and have gained more skills by cross training. I have also gained more skills by knowing a bit more about the legal stuff such as health and safety at work act and gdpr.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well organised since it switched over to aptem. I did an apprenticeship last year and that was over a few websites. This is all on one platform and I can log in and log out with ease and know that my work is saved next time I go to it.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer and know that I can ask for help if I need it. My line manager asks me questions about how my apprenticeship is getting on and if I am still enjoying it. This is important as it is a work based role.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I get a lot of support from my trainer as she is there to ask questions if I need and she is always willing to help me out if needed. When I get closer to my EPA I have confidence that my trainer will be on hand to answer and questions or worries that I may have.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me perform better in my role because I am learning the different aspects of my role so I am getting more confident and more experience as my apprenticeship goes on. I perform better as I know I am working towards a goal so I want to do better in my work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
There are multiple activities I take part in such as organising fun days and I host the quiz on a Wednesday night. I enjoy doing the quiz as I get to meet different customers and I enjoy socialising with different people. I also enjoy doing the fun days as I like to see kids get involved with things as well as adults.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Lifetime Training to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I gained a lot of experience doing my last apprenticeship and have gained even more experience doing my second. My trainer is really nice and is always on hand to answer any questions if I need her. I also enjoyed learning new skills and different aspects in the hospitality industry.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifetime Training?
I would tell them to just relax and enjoy the experience. The epa comes around quicker than you think but if you put your mind to it then you can gain the qualifications that you need. I would also tell them to enjoy every minute and always ask questions if needed.
