Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role involves programming. I am currently learning a new language called typescript within my team. This is important because the projects developed in my team are dependant on bash code which isn't as helpful to them anymore. So learning typescript means i could transform this to typescript code that'll allow work to be automated and user friendly. I spend a lot of my time having meetings discussing my progress with colleagues and my manager. Sharing updates from goals i set from the beginning and also updates from the team and work progress overall and i love it. Sometimes i work from home sometimes we all gather in local offices.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the networking side to it. It took time for me to adjust to a professional environment after coming from sixth form. But it's a new perspective for me and i am grateful to have met the people who i have met supporting me in my learning and development post school.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Yes, I have learnt a lot about git lab, sharing updates and a new languages. Currently about to embark on a cloud course to get a certification!

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
There os a clear disctinction between uni anf work and i can say that 20% goes to my learning from uni and the rest to work and my team. However, there is a lot of flexibility when deadlines become priority and it feels like i may need to spend more time on one than the other. Lecturers from uni and managers from work are very understanding from each other's perspective.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive support on a regular basis as there are regular calls to hear updates and for me to asks any questions. If not, just to be involved and bond with the team more.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
A lot of support. Even when it feels overwhelming people are always on your side. Be it counselling, HELMS support, a quick chat/update or even from the students itself. We all support each other and i love the community.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I feel like the degree that i learn is very must inline to what i need to know as a software engineer especially if i choose to embark on other roles i.e project management. The knowledge is very must there to branch out if i wanted to.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
Yes, there are plenty opportunities to apply to be a youth community lead that plans a lot of networking events for apprentices. There's so many things to improve the working ethic in Vodafone. Just ask HR. There's always something but it'll definitely be in your emails asking you to sign up first: D

Why not?
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Vodafone?
Be as organized as possible as it will only work in your favor and help you be on track of everything. It's a crucial skill to have when balancing work and uni.
