Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is to training employees on how to operate MHE trucks to a safe standard and provide them with the basic skills to do so. I also train employees who are new to the business and carry out site inductions which involves more training like manual handling and a site walk.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my role as a trainer and have taken up new skills I have learnt from being a learning mentor. Most of the work I do is online based ( Learning Mentor) which can be as a little harder cause I prefer face to face engagement. Its a useful program to have as I becoming a learning mentor is a good life skill to have.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt new skills on how to train people in general. Wayfair paid for my RTITB course in order to be a qualified MHE instructor and have supported me greatly. I have learned new skills on how to manage my workload and also how different people need different training techniques in order to achieve there goals.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
When I started the programme I completed 10 hours of apprenticeship work per block (4 days) which allowed me plenty of time to complete my work and also get it to a good standard. Having to balance my coursework with my day to day job can be challenging especially at the start due to peak periods.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive decent support from my employer. I can reach out to my senior training manager as well my training manager and supervisor for any help with time and guidance relating to my coursework. I would prefer to have a direct support on site in order ensure I'm keeping motivated and taking a keen interest in what I'm doing.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive monthly emails which give me resources and guidance on different tasks I need to carry out. I also get online one to one meetings from the direct trainer from smart training who gives me support and reviews a lot of the work I send for marking and review.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I can use different skills as a mentor to become a better trainer. Using these skills can get the best out of new hires and existing employees for there development and future job prospects. Its also good for my personal gain to get an edge when eyeing up a promotion or job change.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some charity events wayfair do which I can get involved in but I would also like to know about some more in the future. I would like wayfair to do more social events for team bonding to create a fantastic work atmosphere such as more charity events in the summer.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Wayfair to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I would recommend wayfair to someone because it is a fast growing company with high ambitions and is always creating new exciting plans for the business to expand. It also pays decent even at the lowest level and the room progression is quite high with many new roles being advertised monthly
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Wayfair?
I would recommend anyone applying to wayfair to do some research on the company and what its culture is like. I would tell them to get interview prepping and practice answering behavioral questions as wayfair want to see the hires meeting their company culture. I would also advice them to embrace the place and get to know as many people as possible so you can always get the best support as possible.
