Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role involves mainly reporting financial figures of Unilever's sales. One of my key responsibilities is being the main source of contact regarding Unilever's DSR (Daily Sales Record.) My role in this is to collect the data to compile into the report and to send out to over 1000 employees.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I definitely love this programme offered. It is a very new lifestyle for me and my first proper job. Of course there is slightly dull days but that means there is always time to catch up with work and to ponder into discovering new topics you didn't know existed.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have definitely been introduced to many new skills. The main skill that I have had to develop and learn are my technology skills with using excel on a daily basis. Along with that social skills have developed as well as they have been key to be opening up opportunities.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme has a good structure to it in the sense that once a month we will have our boot camps where the learning section of the apprenticeship will take place. Also, once a week we will be able to take a day to study so that we can keep up.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

About once a month I will have a call with my contact from Manpower to see how I'm getting on and what I'm up to at the moment. I have always been able to reach out if I have queries and have always been responded to by email.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a fair amount of support from my training provider and my coach. Once a month we have a catch up on my progress and set objectives that I can work towards along with my learning. This can vary from personal development or setting aside time to focus on work.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

My training does give me a different insight into my role. With my training I am learning and using different programmes than anyone in my team so when tackling a task I can use this to my advantage so taking an alternate route to see how this can be done.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

At Unilever we have a gym so if you're into that can go to the gym with your peers. I have also taken part of organising a social event for IPSP (Industrial Placement Summer Placement) students. I also take part in a football league with a few lads from work.

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I don't think there is many great companies just like Unilever that offer a wide variety of apprentices and are as well established. There programme had so much support and thought behind it and the introduction days have so much content that you feel welcome from the first week.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
It would be too typical to say 'Be Yourself!' But I think that, at Unilever and all apprentices that you go in as the lowest worker, you have got to put yourself out there and to always have questions as it will lead to further opportunities and make you seem interested.
