Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
Working on the shop floor to ensure units was built and on time to hit our OTD
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
through the program it was difficult as i had the wrong standards for the first year. done electrical apprenticeship but had to learn and complete mechanical aspects. personally i thought the goal post was always changing!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
i have learned various new skills such as cable forming, reviewing engineering drawings practicing new lean techniques. and so much more

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
as said above i was given the wrong standards for the 2nd year and then given the correct ones half way through. on EPA i was not given any revision material and was expected just to complete. i think from a GET side of things it could have been better.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
We had monthly meeting and could send a email if we had any problems, it could take a while to get an answer but more often than not i would receive communications in a timely manner
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
When working towards the qualifications mainly in the 2nd and 3rd year we had a review every 6weeks and went through my standards that i had completed i would be given brief directions on what i need to do next but that was about it. when taking on EPA i felt i was left to complete it on my own and the trainer had very little to give or say (EAL)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
i have managed to pick little tricks and bits up from my qualification such as understanding engineering symbols. but when working i follow procedures which give me direction. so personally in my new role i think it has helped a little bit but not a great deal.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
2/5
I would attend Christmas parties and birthdays with colleagues in my team would hold. but nothing else

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I think it is a great way to start a career and get a qualification and on the job learning. Just because my experience wasn't the greatest i still have great memories from my apprenticeship and have made friends along the way. the GE business also allows you to move around the business and explore different areas you can work in production, engineering, sourcing there is a lot of routes you can take to kick tart your career
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
the apprenticeship has changed so much since i started new leader and new provider. but i would say keep your head down ask questions be noticed and enjoy it!
