Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
On a day to day basis I will speak with clients, which are typically banks who have instructed us to produce a report for a Loan Security on a new or encumbered asset. We will go out on site visits, inspect the Hotels and have conversations with the General Managers. Then we will return to the office to write the reports and produce a value which we do either through the investment method of profits method of valuation.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy being able to apply the theory learnt in my masters to the practical tasks I do at work everyday. I has meant that my learning time has sped up massively and it what I'm learning actually feels useful. I also enjoy coming into the office a lot because of the comradery amongst the team. Everyone is really supportive and willing to help as much as they can.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have developed so many skills its hard to count! I have improved my general maths capabilities but mainly I have developed the skills to use a discounted cash flow and I am now able to analyse and truly understand a company's P&L statement. My report writing has improved massively and as a product my English, vocabulary and spelling have all improved as well. Finally I have gained a lot of confidence when it comes to conversing with clients and colleagues. Everyone is so friendly at Savills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I joined during Covid-19 which meant that things were slightly confusing and all done over teams or zoom. Because of this I felt slightly unorganised at the beginning of my apprenticeship however, as soon as lockdown ended everything went back to normal and the HR team were incredibly organised and helped get everyone back on track.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I think you will receive as much support as you ask for. I was struggling at the beginning as one of my line managers wasn't showing me enough guidance however, I reached out to HR who quickly sorted the problem and made sure I felt I was getting the attention I needed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
Sometimes line managers of directors can be dismissive and want you to work even while you're meant to be studying for your qualification, however most people in the team are supportive of your working hours and are even willing to help with assignments if they have the prior knowledge.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It helps me so much, its also part of why I enjoy my job so much because the theory is immediately applicable to the practical.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I am part of several groups which conducts networking events once or twice a month and there is always a great turn out. There are lots of sports teams to choose from however I haven't joined one yet myself.
