Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
The schedule usually is work the first part of the day, daily sync with the team where you get/provide help related to work as well as share your current situation. Meal break and work again. Meetings scheduled depending on need.
For my role, I either spend my time researching how technologies worked or solving issues that have been assigned to me, asking questions when not knowing how to proceed or if stuck.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
Yes and no. Since it was a 3 month internship, I couldn't actually be given the responsibility for something like OnCall, since you have to be able to solve at least 80% of the problems that appear and the training for that is 3 months on its own. But yes, what I have worked on will definitely be included in the production environment and having access to secrets and everything implies some responsibility.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I furthered my understanding of how some programming languages worked, as well as learn a lot of new technologies and practices that will definitely help me in the future so I won't start at 0 point for every new job/change in teams in the company. I also got to work hands on on an enterprise scale project, which I don't think I would've had the opportunity otherwise. Also learnt soft skills.

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
I received support in basically all the areas I could ask for. From paperwork to supplies, events, hardware problems, authorisation and access, ways to train, soft skills, advice from colleagues regarding both code and life in general, everyone was very open. "There are no bad questions". Just ask. The company culture is really great in that aspect. They wont treat you badly because you are an intern, you might even be treated better.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
Company wide, there is this Diversity & Inclusion policy that basically makes everyone equal, in the sense that everyone respects and helps out others wherever possible. Even if you ask about something from someone of another team, they are happy to help.
General atmosphere with the team is also fun when it comes to jokes, serious when it matters, a great balance. You are part of a healthy and supportive community which only gets better.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I was provided with an opportunity I never could have imagined I would be granted. It was one of the best experiences of my life: It's basically like school but fun, you actually learn stuff, you expand your network and you get paid for it. Also, everyone is your friend and you don't have to look behind your back. Your opinions are also valued and you are respected. What more could you want?

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Adobe to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Adobe
Love what job you want to apply at and know your stuff. If you don't think you fit the criteria, as long as you have a good personality and skills, race, age, religion, or anything don't really matter. Just apply, and you might be surprised. This is coming from a high school student participating at a University Internship Program. Also talk to as many people as you can when inside the company.
