Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
I get a new placement every 6-8 months meaning my role changes quite frequently. As I am an engineering apprentice, the placements are all relevant to my programme. The roles involve attending meetings, working with more experienced members of staff and taking on tasks myself to further my develpment.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
The work aspect of the programme is interesting and challenging however the college leaves a lot to be desired with poor support and teaching.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
The main skills that I have developed so far on the programme are communication, organising and time-management, independent and collaborative working as well as some technical skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There is a network of line managers and early careers contacts who are responsible for helping organise the programme and are readily available to solve any issues or answer any questions.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
The employer provides a good amount of support should you reach out for it, as well as there being apprentice-lead and apprentice-run groups that can also offer support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
1/5
The support from the college has been minimal and has let the whole experience down. The employer, however have been offering support in communications with the college whilst in discussions about this.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
The course is relevant to the programme and covers a good amount of content. The delivery, unfortunately, lets it down.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
The employer encourages extracurricular activities to further your apprenticeship. These are often to do with promoting stem in the local area. These activities usually provide different challenges to what you'd face in work.
