Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As an actuarial apprentice, I fore fill request for individual members requesting information about their pension benefits using complex proformas and calculations. I am also involved in process' such as: billing, valuations and transfer monitoring report. My day-to-day role involves skills such and problem solving and communication skills are vital.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the culture at the company and appreciate the amount of communication that we have within the team. The work I complete on a daily basis interests me making the job that I complete much more fore filling. The flexibility in the role is great and being able to work from home really benefits me.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to take in large amounts of information given quickly so that I am able to put this into practice in future tasks. Efficiency and having the ability to learn new skills on the spot have helped me to be successful and become productive when completing various jobs.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

There is a 20% off the job training structure in place at the company. This means that I receive constant training and even study days in the weeks prior to my exam. Workflow is at a sufficient amount however allows for my training time so that I am not overwhelmed.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

There is a great deal of support that I am able to reach out to if needed. All of my colleagues are very welcoming and my manager has regular catch ups with me to sustain my development along with my coach from BPP and my study mentor that the company provide.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is a surplus of support when it comes to training and studying towards my exams. As previously mentioned, there is a 20% off the job training programme that the company stick to in order to aid my development along with my study coach and physical and virtual revision resources that are available to me.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification that I am currently completing (CAA module 0) is a base knowledge exam that just re-enforces my prior mathematical knowledge however the next exam, module 1, is more about pensions calculations and will be allow me to learn more about the day-to-day process' that I complete at work.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a number of extra-curricular activities that you are able to get involved in such as 5 a side football and social events such as drinks after work to the annual SIAS ball that I recently attended. Everyone is always planning our next social activity and so that is plenty of networking opportunities

WTW is a sociable company that cares about its employees and provides opportunities for advancement in the form of exams and different delivery specialist roles. The work that we carry out is interesting and the study that we do allows constant development. The culture at the company is great and the people are even better!
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to WTW?
Research beforehand and make sure to show off your prior knowledge and communicational skills. Try and find out more about the day-to-day work that we carry out and think about what you would be able to improve upon/ what you would do to make a difference at Willis Towers Watson.
