Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
I’m an Advanced Apprentice in the Aftersales Logistics department. We are a single site UK operation, acting as the main logistics centre on behalf of worldwide Bentley retailers. My role requires me to work as part of the logistics team in relation to physical logistics, market compliance, carrier performance and internal company customer support.

I thoroughly enjoy my programme and my job at Bentley Motors. Each day is different and filled with new challenges and plenty of learning opportunities. My programme at Bentley has motivated me to strive for excellence in everything that I do. I aspire to achieve success, and a long, progressive career at the company.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I started my apprenticeship at Bentley Motors back in September 2019, and since then I’ve become a more independent, confident and knowledgeable individual. I’ve greatly developed my communication skills, organisational skills and technical understanding of the automotive and logistics industries. I’m able to work professionally, whether that be independently, or as a valued member of the Aftersales Logistics team.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The programme is very well organised and it is also well structured. SR Education allow a flexible approach to learning, as do Bentley. I’m not afraid to make mistakes or ask for guidance simply due to how supportive both Bentley and SR Education are. The coordination and communication between the two is superb
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Bentley are extremely supportive. The HR team are keen to assist with personal development in any way which they can. From a departmental perspective, my team and line manager will always offer support if required. Bentley allow me to structure my off the job hours as I see fit and understand that my study/work balance needs to be achieved.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I receive plenty of support from SR Education. My tutor delivers sessions in an effective manner, and they are also very approachable to contact outside of lessons to answer any outstanding questions or provide clarity on particular topics. Overall, the company provide alot of support with my coursework and assignments and are always providing guidance on the topics throughout.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Since beginning the programme, I’ve greatly developed my communication skills, organisational skills and technical understanding of the logistics industries. I’m able to work professionally, whether that be independently, or as a valued member of the Aftersales Logistics team. Pursuing this programme has motivated me to strive for excellence in everything that I do; making the most of any opportunities to further develop my skillset within my role at Bentley.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I’ve helped to plan and supported several school liaison activities and careers fairs, in addition to assisting with the Bentley Apprenticeship open day. I’ve also supported charitable projects over the past 2 years. Most notably, working in collaboration with the Prince’s Trust to deliver learning and activity days for disadvantaged children. This involved teaching the children employability skills, with activities such as CV writing and SMART goal setting. I’m also a proud member of the Bentley Apprentice council.
