Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Completing daily admin tasks and creating as well as maintaining necessary project management documents such as action logs, risk logs, GANTT charts, stakeholder logs, communication logs, a stakeholder matrix. Having project update meetings and taking part in stretch assignments within the business to help with professional development (outside of placement work).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I think that at BAE Systems you get offered a lot of exciting opportunities when compared to what other apprenticeships may have to offer. People always will want to support you and ensure you are actually learning and you are comfortable. It has gone above my expectations and I do enjoy it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learned to use microsoft project, this is typically what is used when making a GANTT chart. I've also developed my hard and soft skills during my time at BAE Systems so far, i have improved on my teamwork, problem solving skills, critical thinking, adaptability and willingness to learn; as well as risk management and planning.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
We had a good induction when we started, which lasted a week. We have a lot of support if we want it, from the early careers team or your placement team or even a buddy (someone usually a year older than you to make sure you're settling in well).
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
We receive support all round, it's never an issue. Generally, most people are very open to helping an apprentice. There's many different ways you can access support, we have schemes that target inclusion and diversity e.g. dyslexia and mental health. Usually, you do have people who will just keep checking up on you and making sure you have everything that you need for example a manager.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
You have a lot of support from the university as you would be a student of theirs. You also would be able to get support from people in your team who can help to broaden your project management knowledge for example if they have time they may be able to tutor you at work or help you brush things up or anything you don't understand.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think that what I am learning on the apprenticeship definitely helps me on a day to day basis in my role, I have also put what I have learnt into practice with projects. I feel that I do know more about project management and what being a project manager includes as well as the industry from my apprenticeship.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, there is a lot of social events. There are a lot of different sports clubs available such as tennis, badminton, sailing, rock climbing, netball etc. There are also fundraising events within early careers such as tough mudder, where apprentices from early careers complete a 10k mud obstacle course to raise money for veterans.
