Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
To attend college once per week and the remainder is placement work within the business carrying out tasks for various departments to get a understanding of how the business operates and positions that may be available upon completion of the apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
It is enjoyable but could be better although it has been said that COVID and working from home has had a huge impact upon the quality of the program and its delivery.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I have gained a greater understanding of engineering, engineering tasks in a variety of disciplines and gained a much better understanding of engineering based disciplines such as mechanical and mathematical work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The program itself is well organised but in my opinion needs updating to represent the current business operations now that Brough site no longer manufactures aircraft and as such the program should be altered to fully tailored to technical apprentices. also staff leaving has been a issue.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
BAE offers lots of support and guidance systems so that in any event a apprentice as well as fully fledged employees can seek support.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The training provider (HETA) is very accommodating and whenever possible will listen to issues and questions as well as provide support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
The training provided isn't always applicable to the types of roles that are present within the business but is essential background knowledge which should be known such as to have not just a understanding of the task but why it is important or what the task is for.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
BAE offers lots of networking and social events as well as extra training, seminars and so on. For example BAE Brough has a golf club which a good number of people are a part of.
