Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Currently within my training period, learning both engineering theory in a classroom and gaining practical workshop skills. Have university online one day a week.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
So far I have enjoyed all of the programme, though it has been limited due to being in my training phase, but I feel well prepared to enter placements.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed new knowledge throughout my training period through the classroom and practical learning. I have also learnt new knowledge through my university program.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The training phase was only supposed to take 6 months however has been extended to 9 months due to poor planning, but it has not been adressed how this will affect the overall length of the apprenticeship. The rest of structure is good.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I believe there is a good support structure in place, especially with having a skills coach who you have 12 week reviews with to address any concerns.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There is a lot of support in terms of university with lecturers happy to answer any questions and help as much as possible.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It is hard tp say due to still being in the training period. However, I believe it will definitely help when it comes to placements.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Due to Brough being a small site, it is mainly just activities organised between individuals that are unrelated to work to attend as extra-curricular. There are opportunities for voluntarty activities such as being a STEM ambassador.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I believe it is a great apprenticeship offered with many benefits.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
I believe the best thing to do is just be yourself, the company are not looking for how much you already know in terms of engineering but more the potential you have to be moulded to the role in the company.
