Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I am a support worker and this includes support individuals with autism, learning disabilities anxiety and many others. I support an individual to administer medication, shopping, making and supporting individuals to gp appointments I also assist with personal care cleaning there home with them engaged in new experience with them.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I throughly enjoy as it I learnt new skills I gain confident within my role. I find it really interesting different and I would advised anyone to pusure this as it really good and learn many skills and gain so much confidence through it and the trainers are so helpful

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I have learnt how to administer medication how to deal with challenging situations I learnt lots of different skills with my nvq such as how to engage better with service user how important it is to report for safeguarding and how to deal with if an individual is getting abused what to do and not to do.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very orangised units sent to me in a timely manner. Very easy to understand excellent structure. Could not ask for anything to be changed as it has been very easy and simple to follow and if I got unorganized my trainer gave me right moviation to stay on track and complete units in time.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

Excellent support my manager she has advice me on how to complete unit kept me motivated printed off anything that I needed for my nvq. Given me load of emotional support awith my maths when I have been unsure lots of praise and encouragement from manger could not ask for more help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Loads with maths and units when I been stuck
my maths tutor has sent me homework spent hours helping me learning new maths skills using bksb. My trainer has been excellent given me plenty of encouragement and praise always advice where I need to improve on and what I’m good at.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel way more confident about dealing with situations this nvq has changed my whole mindset o my job role and how to deal with situations better instead making individual more upset and using empathy and building a better relationship with them and how to protect them and encourage them to live there best life.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There is with service users such as bbq Christmas parties going to the gym. Going to college engaging and encourage individual to attend these events and ask if they enjoyed these new experiences. There are events such as team meetings supervisors appraisals with my manger or team leader at my workplace

Why?
Because u learn new skills and the job and nvq is worth it builds your confidence make new friends engage and learn about mental health with different individuals. U can working towards moving to a new sector gain experience feel good about yourself and u might u really enjoy this.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lifetime Training?
Always make sure u have time to complete units always ask trainer if unsure of anything always get support from manager just relax and complete in a timely manner enjoy it. Don’t overwork yourself try not to stress have discussion groups write notes write reflection notes and be proud of yourself
