Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I am a project management degree apprentice and my role involves supporting PM activities within my placement. You move placement each year so will experience different parts of the business and so will gain a variety of skills through the scheme.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I really enjoy my programme, everyone is really friendly and there are loads of opportunities to get to know other apprentices. The only downside I would mention is not working with many other apprentices (can range from 0 to 2/3) but you still have a chance to meet everyone!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt a lot since starting in September. I’ve currently been here 6 months and already feel like I am so much more knowledgeable on project management.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised and structured.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
There is loads of support when you’re part of the scheme. So many people you can speak to as well as getting support from your peers.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
There are mentors to help towards University work both at work and university.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I feel like I really helps me to get context behind what I’m doing in the workplace and I have a much better understanding.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are loads! I’ve personally been involved in the APM challenge (where you make your own project from start to finish with your chosen team) it’s good fun and really beneficial, especially when you first start.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Because I feel I have learnt a lot in such a short space of time. As well as being able to learn, get paid and get a degree I think there are no faults. The majority of people also secure an exit role by the end.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Research into the business and feed this into your applications/interviews. Go over your answers to possible questions and relax because everyone is really lovely and supportive.
