Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
I assist a small team in the Project Management of a rolling Portfolio of support periods for two ships. I help co-ordinate installation projects and make sure the team is up-to-date with progress via in-person inspection of work and communication in various forms.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I am fascinated by the projects we work on, and work with a fantastic team. Everything about my current role is interesting and enriching. I also enjoy going out to University each week. I feel supported in my studies by my peers, not those in charge of the course.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Other than learning specific software or programmes used, I have achieved development in my organisation, particularly organising my stakeholder communications. I am also developing leadership skills, and building confidence in taking responsibility for projects.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
2/5
I think there is room for clearer and more attentive explanation of the structure of our programme. It has been difficult to understand how to go about organising my future placements, and there is little collaboration in terms of communication between apprentices, BAE, and the University.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive fantastic support from my placement manager, and less support from the Early Careers Team. I don't believe that the support is there if I seek it, because I think the Early Careers Team is over-stretched. I think the level of current support is appropriate for me.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
I believe the support exists if I seek it out, but it is not blatantly offered, or even encouraged. I am fine with this, but I can see that someone with less confidence/requiring more support might struggle with the independence. I think the training provider representatives are unapproachable.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
2/5
I have experienced occasions when I make connections between some learnt theory and a task I carry out at work, but not in an impactful and helpful way, yet.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
I haven't heard of any sports teams or professional networking events. There are social events, but only if you work in a close team. There are social events with apprentices, but these are mostly aimed at young apprentices (18-20 yo).
