Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
The first 6 months approximately of the apprenticeship are spent learning hand skills and basic skills in general while being introduced to different business areas. Following this I am now in my role learning the ropes and being taught the processes used but many people.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
the technology and machines used in this industry are completely new to me and this makes learning all about them and what they do intensely interesting.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Very much so, the first 6 months I learned many general hand skills and now im learning lots about all of the contracts BAE has and all of the things we do.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
There have been a couple of hiccups along the way, quiet periods, times we are not entirely sure what we are supposed to be doing. generally not too bad though.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
People in the business I have come across want nothing more than to help me. Everyone is massively helpful and informative about anything and everything they can help with.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
CEMAST college is familiar to me from my level 3 and its a good college with good staff, though a little disorganised, but the staff are more than happy to help where they can.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
Much of the stuff learned in the qualification isn't particularly relevant to my job role, through no fault of anyone its just the curriculum and the work I happen to be doing currently.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There is an extensive sport club recently set up as well as existing football teams and there are many opportunities to go out with colleagues. There are also a couple formal work events yearly that are great fun.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Good company, amazing opportunities, fantastic people I work with.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Its not easy to get in but they like to look for how they think you would fit in at the company more than anything else but you should also become knowledgeable about the company to give yourself the best chance of getting the job.
