Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Maintenance of aircraft at base line, involves both deep (Major) maintenance and more simple Minor and Primary work. Alongside fixing issues with the aircraft, many other skills are involved such as; control of documents, tool control and self reflection on my own work. All work done is recorded in the appropriate documents and for my apprenticeship.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
There have been many positive aspects to my program but a few negative ones coupled with this. The instruction has been excellent and the majority of the content was suitable and relevant to my future role in the company. On the other hand, some of the organisation has been a bit chaotic

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have learnt a wide array of new skills since arriving at the company that have improved my ability to work on aircraft immensely. These include theoretical skills as well as practical/hand skills. This has built a lot on the earlier experience I received in previous education at college

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
As mentioned before, some of the organisation was a bit lacking in my programme. We have covered all of the required content but to do this some unrequired stress was induced on us that could have been avoided if the organisation was slightly different. The structure of out modules was good
How much support do you receive from your employer?
3/5
I receive a good amount of support from the company on a fair few issues I have encountered. Certain managers at my workplace in Hull are very quick to sort any issues out that arrive upon contact however sometimes this can be a bit lacking. I myself have never encountered a major issue regarding support
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
3/5
The training part of the support is excellent, I was set up with the perfect skillset to progress in my workplace and I aim to build on this in the future. As for assessing my submitted evidence for my course, I have noticed this seems to be quite lacking myself (as well as hearing so from other people)
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
This qualification sets me up to progress massively in my role. It gives me the required authority to carry out my role and certify my own work done on aircraft along with an oversig. The practical experience I received at my training provider has been extremely useful to what I do on a day-to-day basis
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
If one chose to do extra curricular activities, yes. I myself am not involved in any of these but I know these are available to anybody who is interested in participating in them. These notices are widely available at my place of work and as such are available to anybody

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
The company gives a good start into a career in the aircraft industry and gives excellent real world experience working on live aircraft, even for people of a young age or little experience to start with. The knowledge and experience available to somebody in training is truly excellent and a great resource to be used
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
Developing confidence is the main thing I picked up in my first year, If I had had this from the start I am certain I would have performed even better than I have. Being your own person and not feeling that you have to conform to the norm is good too, you will get accepted by your peers if you treat everyone with respect and give them common courtesy
