Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role as a plate welder is to carry out day to day tasks in welding and learn the principles behind welding, I also learn the different types of welding while engaging with other pupils and instructors, I do many processes like MMA, MIG, MAG, TIGc they are a range of different welding processes.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy the programme a lot, there are a lot of incentives that give you more purpose than just the initial apprenticeship, for example going away with the apprentices for a week, getting 1-1 intuition with the instructor, I enjoy it a lot because I learn new things everyday and it gives me purpose

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I’ve learnt many skills since moving here, for example living independently, it helped me budget and helped me gain a wider spectrum of how much things cost etc and then with regards to the welding I have expanded my already current knowledge on MIG/MAG, MMA and a little bit of TIG

How well organised/structured is your programme?

The organisation and structure are both really good, there has been thorough planning and the tests involved are both challenging and manageable, although scattered at first there is a set out course plan viewable on many websites for our course/programme and it details every different module we will undertake
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support and in all the right subjects, for example mental health, I’ve been given support from EAP, which is the employee assurance programme. My instructors and safeguarding officer have both helped a great deal and have helped me plan out things to do in my time off to keep me occupied
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
A very good amount, my training provider help me achieve all my qualifications with the 1 on 1 tutoring during some modules, for example showing the correct procedures during the welding and helping us with any discrepancies we have during the task at hand, I would definitely rate them highly
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
