Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
2/5
Full time studying mostly steel pipe fitting. 2.5 days a week practical, mostly on welding and steel pipe.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
1/5
The program is fine but inappropriate to my career and a waste of my time.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
I can weld now. I have relearnt maths skills

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Well organised and structured around the course objectives
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
When raising issues beyond those that are easily solved, I get no response or the response is extremely slow and requires chasing.
The employee assistance programme is also good.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Help is readily provided whenever I ask for it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
1/5
I will not weld pipe in my new role and that is a lot of my course. I have a level 2 plumbing qualification so there is little new relevant information.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes plenty and I very much enjoy them

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It’s a good job with a lot of support that a large company brings.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
I would urge them to get experience of their role before applying for the course.
