Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
my job role consists of rotating between a number of placements within the business, of which i learn how to use new software and design facilities. These placements can be either 2D or 3D design.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I enjoy the concept of trying different placements, allowing you to see which is most suited to you. In addition to this, taking part in an electrical HNC means that i attend college on a thursday, which really breaks up the week.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
3/5
Starting my apprenticeship straight from school meant that i had little experience using CAD, so this was a brand new skill for me. I have also progressed to HNC electrical engineering, developing from Level 3.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The structure of the program could be a little more clear. There isn't much forecast as to when and where you will be moving placement. Also, i feel as though the concept of EPA is presented vaguely until near completion time, which is daunting.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
There is lots of support offered by BAE, such as counseling, tutoring or even guidance in general.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
The lack of teaching resources has been poor in my final year within the college, there is no suitable teacher to take the presented lessons or to offer guidance and support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
i believe that gaining this qualification will provide a lot of background knowledge of the items that we design. It also creates the opportunity to progress forwards and become an engineer, alongside gain a degree in electrical engineering.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are plenty of future engineering activities which allow members of the company to educate school children and school leavers on the opportunities within BAE Systems and how they can be obtained.
