Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
Currently in college but my role when entering the shipyard will be a fabricator which will use bits of steel plate to create different components that count towards a finished unit that comes together to form a ship
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am thoroughly enjoying my programme as it develops skills that I never knew I had and I have also met plenty of new people in the process.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Yes I have developed different fabricating skills and how to use different pieces of equipment and machinery. I also have been thought how to weld properly when it is needed.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
It is extremely well structured with the college being the 1st year as it means we are not flung into the deep end straight away and can have time to learn and develop skills and qualities.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer gives a lot of support through different people and unions within the workplace, the feedback given is also useful. We are also given reviews about how our course is going which lets us set goals and the work support this.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Some people on the course canny reach certain levels in academic subjects such as maths therefor a lesser level has been given and more help has been provided for those who need it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Certain things such as English and I.T I personally do not think help much in my role but maths definitely helps with having to work with numbers and dimensions.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are not much as of yet assuming due to COVID but nights out get planned usually.
