Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Field Team leader - This involves managing a team of meter technicians who fit smart meters. I manage their daily performance ensuring they hit targets against metrics such as completion rate and aborted rate. Also average number of assets fitted per day. i also manage their attendance, authorise/decline holiays and all HR queries.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
3/5
I really enjoyed my time on the programme and the time spent with my mentor. it was however difficult at times to fit my apprenticeship work in alongside my day job. I was told when starting the apprenticeship that other aspects of my day job would be removed to enable to me time to complete my apprenticship work. this didn't happen.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I found throughout my time on the apprenticeship, that i knew through my management experience lots of the models and theories that i studied, but now able to put a name or label against them. For example maslows hierarchy of needs was something i knew and understood, but didnt know the name of that model. I do now :)

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Initially the programme was not well structured or organised well at all. We had different mentors or development coaches i think they were called and each different group seemed to be doing different things and getting mixed messages. In the end i got a new development coach who was amazing and from that point i never looked back.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I received all the support i needed from my employer. When i asked for time to do apprenticeship work i got it. My line manager supported me with specific modules when i needed him to which was great. My only complaint was my existing workload not being removed as originally agreed.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
When i started with my new develpment coach later in the programme, which pretty much started from scratch. i had set and structured 1 on 1 mentoring sessions which was fantastic and received all the support, and time required. if i asked for more help or support i would get it.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
As mentioned in an earlier answer, i dont think its given me many new skills from what i already had. However, i know consciously know what certain skills are and how and when to apply them. For example, being "self aware" is a skill i now consciously focus on doing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes, depending on which area of the business you work in. Currently for me there are not many social activities, however in my previous role 8 months ago which was a more office based role there was countless activities and social events happening.

Its a great company, but very challenging at times. It will provide great rewards when you overcome the challenges, but will also provide you with a great career opportunity with lots of opportunities to develop and further yourself within other roles.
