Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My role on a daily basis throughout my apprenticeship changes. I am currently shadowing different departments at VM02 as well as 1 day a week BPP. My main role involves splicing fibre optic cable and testing fibre circuits.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I very much enjoy my programme the experience has been brilliant so far and continues to be.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

During my apprenticeship i learnt a lot of new skills from fibre engineering, planning, and project management. i Also developed existing skills such as communication, confidence in myself and time keeping.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme is very well structured with road maps throughout the whole experience guiding us to goals and achieve milestones.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The support virgin media have offered me so far has been fantastic, helping me overcome challenges i never expected to face.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Support is available from the training provider, there has been occasions where it hasn't been great but overall good support.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The qualification itself doesn't help a huge amount for me to perform my role better but it has given me a great amount of knowledge about other processes within VM02 helping me to understand what happens before project get to the stage where my involvement begins.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Due to covid 19 there has been a small number of event available not a great few years for activities like this.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Virgin Media O2?
cliche but be yourself. Virgin media want to see the real you and the potential you can have within the business. i Knew nothing about the industry before coming here but by showing my personality and wiliness to learn got me to where i am today. so relax and enjoy
