Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
Involves having meeting with subject matter experts to lead projects that produce or streamline learning content within the supply chain. Mainly covering manufacturing and engineering but many unique projects can and do come across you in this role
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot if responsibility from the get go at Unilever. I was immediately tasked with leading two projects on my own with my line managers support as well as supporting some of my colleagues projects at the same time. I have had meetings with global leads because of this so I feel like I was put in charge of very important tasks. I was mostly left alone to do my work.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
I have greatly improved my communication skills in my time at Unilever. Whether this be my written communication skills because I have had to write articles and emails advertising new content that will soon be released or through the various project proposals I have had to present to subject matter experts and company directors for their approval.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
The company culture at Unilever is excellent. Most companies describe a good work environment and support but at Unilever this is actually expressed in the day to day activities. I have been able to attend any wider events due to the pandemic and remote working in my role

I enjoyed my placement to an extent even though I was placed into a role I did not expect to be in. The team and work environment was very supportive during my time which made it much easier to perform in my role. I would not go back to the specific role since it isn't directly in line with what I want to do.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
The interview process at Unilever is a very unique one as it is more personal than technical so the best advice is to be open and be yourself throughout the process. Just make sure you do your initial research into the company to familiarise yourself with the values and culture, especially sustainability
