Overall Rating

2.8 /5

The Overall Rating is the average of all the ratings given in each category. We take those individual ratings and combine them into one final score!

2.5/5 - Overview of Role
4/5 - Skills Development
2.4/5 - Structure and Support

Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
3/5
We are currently training on the buses, getting some driving time and observing the other trainees too. We completed our theory and hazard perception, and case study tests already. I just completed my mod 4 (CPC) test today.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
2/5
I mostly enjoy the programme. The main issue with it at the moment is that there are just too many trainees in the program. It means we spend far too much time waiting and watching other people train and not enough time actually doing it ourselves which is frustrating.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I was already a fairly confident driver so I came in with a bit of experience, however driving a bus has definitely been one of the most challenging things to have driven. I’m certainly developing my driving skills, as well as my ability to pass tests in the classroom.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
The structure is good and so is the progression. It’s just the bottlenecks in the training that are irritating.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
2/5
Our employer has been pretty good, but their level of communication with regards to what we are doing next has been frustrating.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
All the support is there if we need it. But you would have to specifically seek it out as they are too busy to be proactive.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
I think we will all be better bus drivers for this course. I think it will allow us to be more professional, and will give us better career progression than otherwise.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
1/5
Not as far as I know…

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Stagecoach UK to a friend?
Yes
Why?
They are a good employer and really seem to be trying to make us feel valued. Most of the issues come from delays and not being as open as they could about the length of the training program, and keeping us busy and encouraged.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Stagecoach UK?
Be prepared to sit around a lot! Bring a good book… but be proactive as the instructors will notice and it will probably help your career if you do!
