Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Running the fun and engaging day to day activities of an HR Business Partner - supporting our business with all of their HR Needs. I work closely with my supportive and encouraging team to deliver on our strategic aims and targets for the year. My role is a balance of creative work and PowerPoint building, and operational delivery of tasks.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I cannot speak highly enough of the HR Apprenticeship programme that I am currently undertaking with Unilever. The company is a dream, the people are like family, and everyone works together to achieve common goals. The apprenticeship programme itself is also teaching me a great deal and developing me for the future.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
Yes, lots!! Time Management, Stakeholder Management, Communication skills, organisational skills, creative arts, email creation, reflective accounts, outlook expertise and general use of the Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, Word, Notes etc.), networking (both formally and informally - with colleagues and with my apprenticeship peers), essay writing for my apprenticeship

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
The structure is good, we have rotations in role to give us a breadth of experience and networking opportunities. I log my 20% off the job learning and my line manager supports me in being able to take this time out of my day to day role to complete my apprenticeship work.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
As above, I log my 20% off the job learning and my line manager supports me in being able to take this time out of my day to day role to complete my apprenticeship work. My line manager also supports me to identify projects and tasks to work on which align to my apprenticeship requirements.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
My training provider are okay - they help us as a cohort to connect and to move through the apprenticeship. They keep us on track and make sure that we can get help if we need it. I also appreciate having my regular 1-1 check ins with my learning provider coach.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It definitely gives me confidence to do my role - it helps me to get knowledge and information which makes me feel more credible. I have learnt a few techniques to use in my day job such as time management and how to prioritise. Having the apprenticeship requirements also means that I need to have responsibility of tasks in my role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - we recently had national apprenticeship week and at Unilever there were lots of events to get involved with including a scavenger hunt where we could win prizes. There is a gym on site, and a hairdressers too, I am also part of one of the employee networks at Unilever for gender equality.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
Yes
Why?
it is supportive, it has good strong morals (which we call purpose - I am booked onto a purpose workshop soon too). My manager is supportive, there are lots of other apprentices to connect with and make friends with. We have a good working environment and benefits available to us too.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Unilever?
Be yourself in the process, be confident in yourself. look into unilever's purpose and mission as this will help to show that you have looked into the company - its a big part of what we do. Dont be afraid to speak up and to share information about yourself to show who you are.
