Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I was working remotely as a part of a team to maintain and improve capital one services. As an intern I worked on my own intern project with the help of a buddy and a mentor.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Although I was mainly working on my intern project I was also given responsibility as they made me engineer of the sprint and I had to do daily checks and updates to containers. So there was enough that it felt manageable.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I have learnt loads of new skills. Coming into this role I was a student with no work experience e in a role like this. It was amazing for teaching me what it’s like and the skills that are required for the job. AWS, Git, Agile, Testing ……… etc

Support and Guidance

How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was given lids of support. I have my mentor and buddy who were amazing with helping whenever but also 2 other grads who I was in a team with who also made they selves available. Everyone at Capital one is willing to help whenever and they are all so friendly!

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

As the job as remote the atmosphere was harder to judge, however they set up the remote working perfectly! Things get scheduled so you have a routine and you never feel like you are working alone. The culture is great because everyone is so nice and helpful !
