Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I manage our sustainability and ESG work. My main responsibilities are environmental research, engaging with suppliers and clients on sustainability initiatives, and creating the firms carbon strategy (reporting, data collection, target setting, reduction methods etc.). I am also part of the team steering our Manchester charity partnership.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy it very much. There is a lot of variety, and its exciting being part of the team steering the firm towards more sustainable and responsible business.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Definitely. I have developed my formal writing skills, my creative design skills, influence & persuasion techniques (very important for a role in CRS), my public speaking skills, my IT and excel skills, and my data analysis skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

It is very well structured. We have regular catch ups (I talk to my line manager daily), and we use various platforms to help structure and keep track of our work and deadlines.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

A lot. I speak to my line manager daily, and also meet with the wider team at least once a week. I can go to anyone in my team for support. Everyone is approachable and always happy to help.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

A good amount of support. I know I can contact my tutor at any time using Slack as a communication tool. We meet at least monthly for a session/ guest speaker session, and have tasks to work on in the mean time which link to the sessions.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It makes me think about theories/ techniques I could use in my role, which is great. Also, lots of the research tasks feed into my role, especially when it comes to researching strategies of competitor organisations - this is useful for us when creating our own carbon strategy.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

Yes, there are lots. There are sports teams everyone can get involved in, staff parties, staff networking events, and networks within the firm which allow everyone to get to know each other and discuss issues important to them, such as the disability network and women@work network.

Why?
The culture is very friendly and supportive. There are lots of social activities to get involved in, and the work/ life balance is really good. The work is stimulating, and there is lots of variety - no two days are the same.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fieldfisher LLP?
Its a very sociable and friendly firm, so I think personality and charisma is key. Also, being able to demonstrate any charity/ voluntary/ pro bono work you may have done will be helpful, as the firm is big on giving and social action.
