Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Daily tasks include engaging with internal stakeholders, understanding key concerns within their area for cyber. Then translating these concerns into risks to assess. Working with teams to undertake a risk assessment and report findings back to stakeholders.
Also involves discussing external providers for support with doing assessments for the different areas.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I work in a great team, with a great culture who have worked hard to ensure COVID Working From Home is still fun. With returning to the office it's providing great opportunities to collaborate with the team. It's exceeded my expectations. the study aspect really relates to my work, and I can implement what I learn from the training provider often within a week of learning it.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
Working towards my Digital & Technology Solutions Degree, but I've also had training & certification in cloud DevSecOps, Microsoft Azure AI and Microsoft Azure Security, with additional training provided. it has exceeded my expectations for what I'd be able to do, and there's always new opportunities to learn new things

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
Very good structure. I have support from Unilever's HR team, my university with both module tutors and practice tutors, who are tasked with ensuring I complete the apprenticeship overall, and with my manager who i have regular catchups with to ensure I'm ok, and happy with the work I'm doing.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
My employer offers great support, with helpful training sessions, my line manager is always supportive, with dedicated time each week to check in with how I'm doing, any issues I'm having and how he can help me with my work. I've been assigned a mentor who's in a different area of the business, so I get a wide range of information from them. Unilever also has mental and physical health support, as well as a helpdesk for any issues you have
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
The Open University provides a large amount of support for students, with tutors who are always happy to help you with any issues, A Practice tutor who comes out to visit every 3 months and meet with your line manager, to the behind the scenes support team you have access to, such as the student support team and functional skills support team
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification helps me to perform better in my role through giving me the background knowledge needed, such as networking. The scheme offered the foundational knowledge required, which I've been able to build on since. In subsequent years I've learnt about career development with a study plan, along with how to write reports and how to be a good learner
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
The office team organise events like quizzes, and themed days in the canteen with activities. Each office has a community apprentice team, who organise regular socials, as well as offering support to new apprentices. The on-site gym offers competitions, as well as other sport events organised between colleagues but open to the office. There are multiple voluntary initiates run both in the office, as well as locally to the office
